"In a relationship"...three little words that usually don't phase me at all. Not phased until those three little words are written by Paige on her facebook page. Oh my! First, I was extremely reluctant to allow her to get a FB page at such a young age, but after lots of dialogue and rules set in place, I let Paige open an account. She has been so responsible with it and truth be known, rarely even gets on to check it.
So, much to my dismay, I am perusing FB and I see an update from my little sister. When I saw the three little words, I gasped and my heart jumped into my throat.
In.A.Relationship.
Why should I be surprised? After all, Paige is so sweet to everyone and she's not too hard on the eyes (thanks to her genes). She is in middle school and has never really had a "boyfriend". Why would she? But, some of her girlfriends have recently started "liking" boys and some feelings have been reciprocated. I knew Paige had a crush on someone, but didn't think it would manifest into anything.
Well, little bit came home the other day and asked if she could talk to my mom and I. Of course, we obliged. She sat us down and asked if she would be allowed to "go out" with "A". We discussed what going out with meant in middle school terms and were so relieved to know that they were extremely innocent. A little walk to class, maybe a hello in the hallway, a text here or there, but never phone calls or "dates". So, we decided to let her spread her wings a bit and were happy she at least was responsible enough to ask our permission.
No matter how hard we try to keep her young forever, truth is, she is growing into a beautiful young lady. She has a heart of gold and is such a sweet child. She really is. I wish everyone could know her. I think her little "friend" is very lucky.
Wonder if it'll last over a week or two? Is it bad to say, "I HOPE NOT?" :)

Oh my... how cute, but also scary!! This is my near future too... with 2 almost 9 years old!
The pictures of Paige look stunning, she will turn in this head turning adult I can tell you!!
First of all I LOVE her clothes in that pic. That girl has style. Second of all she seriously gets more beautiful each post. And third of all, how mature of her to ask for permission. Beautiful, talented, smart, responsible, sweet...this girl has the whole package going on! If I were you I would have a house full of Paige on my walls. Love that pic with the bit of sun flare in it.
I've only been a father for two months...and from your blog, I can see I am NOT going to have an easy time. No dating until she's 31!
Beautiful photos! Beautiful daughter! Thanks!
Awwww....she's growing up!!! With her beauty this is the first of many 'relationships' I'm sure :)
I hope she has fun and doesn't get her sweet little heart broken.
I'm glad it's you and not me going through this!!! LOL!!!! I'm not ready!!!!
Oh my -- she is growing even more beautiful -- if that is even possible! What a sweet, sweet girl! Lovely photos!

Beautiful captures!
I don't think it's wrong at all, but knowing your sweet and beautiful Paige, it might last longer than that. *grin* Because it will likely be her that calls it quits before the boy. And she has a good head on her shoulders for one so young, so she probably chose well. And - on the guy end - what boy in his right mind would ever want to walk away from a relationship with Paige???
Your sister is just beautiful :) My son is 13, almost 14, and we're in this stage right now. In the fall he'll be going into high school, and I worry about this next stage of dating!
Oh my....it starts so early.
These are gorgeous images. A perfect study in serenity.
Missy, she is so friggin gorgeous, I'm in LOVE with these photos. You'd never guess she's still a Tween. Oh... sista, you are in trouble! ;-)
I think I would feel the same way. She sounds like a wonderful young lady and you have certainly captured her beauty in photos. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my. I love how you are handing all of this. Will wants a FB too and we have not given in just yet although I know it is inevitable. She is darling and I have no doubts so will be "in a relationship" a lot.
I have two daughters and this is one of the things I don't look forward to... Such a beautiful girl and truly beautiful portraits.

Oh man... I will *not* handle that day well. Hopefully I've got at least a decade to go!
This is starting with my 11 year old who will be going in to middle school next year. It is much harder than I thought it would be! She is gorgeous!
LOVE THESE photos of your beautiful girl!! LOVE EM!!!
Gosh, I don't know how you are handling it.... I am having a hard enough time with Nick, but I can't even imagine when the girls are Paige's age..... I might be shaking cosmos more frequently:)
Luv Ya and hope you had a great weekend~
xoxo,
Lisa
Missy, that last picture of Paige is absolutely breath taking. (And she looks eighteen!)
I would be freaking out too. "In a relationship" sounds so grown up. Ack! LOL!
