Saturday fun with dear friends!

Paige is playing Upwards basketball this season and we sure have enjoyed watching her play. She is just starting out and for a first timer, isn't half bad. She continously gets the Defense award...she stays on her girl at.all.times. :)

This weekend, we had the pleasure of having some sweet friends join us. I know it's no secret how much we adore this family. I'll let the pics do the talking, because I think they speak volumes :)

"I can say my R's!!!"

That was the first thing Paige said when she came out of recovery the other day after her surgery. She had a lingual frenectomy, because she was severely tongue-tied. Her doctor is the most amazing ENT around. I couldn't be at the surgery, because I was out of sick days at school. I was a nervous wreck, because Paige had never been put under anesthesia before. When I checked my email, to my surprise, there was a pic and a sweet little message from her doctor stating that all went well and that she was a "cutie patootie" :)

Paige has really struggled with speech. She has difficulty articulating and producing the /r/. The night after her surgery, she had taken a bit of her pain meds and was sooo loopy and HILARIOUS. She was in bed, loudly repeating, "RRRRachel, RRRobot, RRRabbit...hahaha I can say my R's". My mom and I were cracking up!

Wish we wouldn't have waited so long, but am glad that she is so proud of herself!

Paige + Avery = BFF's!

A couple of nights ago, dance was closed due to incliment weather. My friend, Kelly, and I had two very upset girls on our hands. It was hiphop night and Paige and Avery are always in attendance, usually in the front row. Sooo, we decided to take the girls out for an impromptu dinner and told them that they could pick anywhere that their little hearts desired, sky was the limit. Where'd they want to go you ask???... Pan@ra Bread! Hey, it worked for me as I was ready to drop some serious dough on our fav. high priced hibachi restaurant.

While there, I couldn't resist snapping a couple (errr, more than a couple, but oh well) photos of these two friends.

I know that now it feels like I have constantly got the camera in their faces, but one day, not too long from now, they will hopefully look back at these pictures and remember fun times had between two special friends. I hope they remember their night at Panera Bread, where they ran outside and were hiphop dancing in the snow, with no coats, while Kelly and I looked on with tears in our eyes, truly appreciating how precious these girls are.

Can't you tell how sad they are to have missed dance? haha

Winter Wonderland Tennessee Style

We have had more snow in the last two weeks than we have had in years. It has truly been a blast! Paige, my mom and I got out in it everyday. We drove around (and got stuck in the ditch..not wise), we went sledding, built snowmen, made homemade chili, drank cider and red wine (my mom and I, not Paige...just sayin' :). It was sooo much fun!
I am out on a snow day today. Great, you say? Nope, we have to now make it up! BOO! Nonetheless, it is always nice to sleep in and be a little lazy :) Here are some pics and some funny video that I have taken over the past couple of weeks!

This is the hill that I sled down when I was a little girl. There were multiple casualties this year, but thank goodness Paige came away fairly unscathed. However, one day she and her friend slid under a parked boat...oops :}

Paige and Corley. These two have a love/hate relationship. I could do MANY a post on things that go on between these two, but I prefer to remain an optimist and showcase a pleasant exchange amongst schoolmates and dance buddies. hahaha!

winter in the villewm
This is one of the entrances back to our house. I took this pic and fell in love with how magical and desolate it looked. It evokes a feeling of going home. I don't know why I love this image so much, but I do.

This is my favorite chair on our side deck. It is where I sit and read, think, breathe in and out, cry, talk on the phone, etc... It looks so alone. I'll be back soon...when mother nature spits out a little warmth!

I leave you with this hilarious video of my mom and Paige sledding. I LOVE my mom!!! If you knew her, you'd love her too. She is such a great sport and such a tiny little nugget of hilarity!!!

Little Lady

Dear sis,

Sometimes you need to hear how proud someone is of you. Today, I would like to take a minute to let you know that I AM so very proud of you. You handle things with such grace and dignity and show me how to act in most instances. You are cool, calm and collected when your big sis is over the top and emotional. You carry high moral values and I am sooo proud of that virtue in you.

Yesterday, you had a situation arise that would have FREAKED.ME.OUT. But you, nope, my little lady, you handled it with such great ease and sophistication. I am so glad that you feel that you can come to me about anything. You are not only my sweet little sister and best friend, you are an inspiration to me. You are so strong when others need to be. You are an example of "picking yourself up by the boot straps and carrying on". I love you to the moon and back.

Glad that yesterday happened the way it did and am even happier to have experienced it right by your side.

I know you will read this in a day or two and when you do, just know that you ALWAYS MAKE ME PROUD, little lady!

Black and White Wednesday

Sorry this is late, I just wanted to get in on the Black and White Wednesday. I have SOOO many pictures of Paige, but not enough of me or my mom. Our goal now is to get in more pics, no matter what we look like. This is not the best pic, as Paige took it in auto, but I love it nonetheless.

Check out more great pics at Lisa's site!

Golden Girls Clinic Part 2

Here Paige is on performance night. The theme was, "Kickin' it old school"...she reminds me of the Madonna, Material Girl days :)

Here are the girls prior to the performance. Paige was trying to console Avery as she was nervous...

...and after, SUCCESS! Look at those sweet beaming faces :)

Mitch, Kate, Matty and Paige

Elizabeth, Kate, Hannah and Paige

Paige and the coach of the GG's, Jamie! She is an amazing coach!
Here is the video of Paige dancing! I am sooo proud of her, as you can tell by my yelling! At Paige's very first dance recital she said, "I want to hear you scweam the loudest" and I have ever since :) If you don't want to watch the whole video, she starts dancing at the 3 min. 30 sec. mark. My little hiphopper :)
